I feel like they intended to make a slow burner out of this, but instead ended up with something more similar to when you don't let the burner catch on before jamming it all the way to "High". It just felt like a big miss. There really isn't any suspense built up in regards to the Wendigo figure himself, and by the time you see him, it reminds me of the Jeepers Creepers sequel where you see him way too fucking much. I felt like there could have been a cool myth or be careful what you wished for type of story with this creature and how he's summoned upon innocent people, but all I felt was be careful what I dig out of the Amazon Prime bin.
